Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is a root-cause approach to health. Instead of just treating symptoms, I look at how different systems in the body interact and identify imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms, whether it's hormones, gut health, inflammation, or detox pathways.
How is this different from what my doctor offers?
Conventional medicine often focuses on diagnosing and prescribing. Functional medicine asks why a symptom is happening and uses advanced testing, nutrition, and lifestyle strategies to restore balance. It's personalized and proactive, not one-size-fits-all.
What types of issues do you help with?
I work with a wide range of chronic symptoms, including bloating, IBS, hormonal imbalances, acne, fatigue, PMS, anxiety, thyroid concerns, and post-birth or postpartum recovery. If you’ve been told your labs are “normal” but you still don’t feel well, this work is for you.
Do you use lab testing?
Yes, I use advanced functional labs like the GI-MAP (stool test), DUTCH (hormone panel), OATS Test, food sensitivity testing, mineral and toxin panels, and more. These tests help us identify imbalances so we can build a plan based on your unique biology.
Can I work with you if I’m on medication?
Yes. Functional medicine can complement conventional treatment. My goal is to support your healing alongside whatever medical care you're receiving. I always respect the relationship you have with your primary care provider or specialist.
What does a typical client journey look like?
Most clients work with me over 3 to 6 months. We begin with an in-depth intake and lab testing, followed by a customized protocol that includes diet, lifestyle, targeted supplements, and nervous system support. Ongoing sessions are used to track progress, adjust your plan, and offer support.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Functional medicine is not typically covered by insurance. However, you can often use HSA or FSA funds for lab testing and consultations. I provide invoices you can submit for reimbursement if eligible.
Do you only work with women?
I specialize in women’s health, hormones, and gut issues but I welcome anyone who is aligned with this approach and ready to take an active role in their healing journey. My male clients are typically working on performance enhacements.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes, all sessions are conducted virtually so I can work with clients anywhere. Lab kits are shipped directly to your home and results are reviewed together via Zoom.
10. How do I get started?
You can start by booking a consultation or joining the waitlist. From there, we’ll determine which labs are most relevant, walk through your history, and build a step-by-step plan that meets your goals.
